I was born in 1985 in the breathtaking and authentic Gurung mountain village of Laprak, Nepal. After primary education, I graduated with a school certificate from Gorkha and headed to Kathmandu where I followed studies in sociology and anthropology.

Very early, I felt that I would want to pursue a career in the mountains. My family was very poor, so I started working in the early 2'000s as a porter and trekking guide in order to finance my university and mountain guide training studies. I enrolled with the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) and finally became a certified mountain guide with the International Federation of Mountain Guide Association (IFMGA/UIAGM) in 2013. My dream came true. Shortly after becoming a mountain guide, I also began working as a professional photographer, filmmaker and drone pilot at high altitudes. 

For the past 20 years, I have been leading successful expeditions as a guide and photographer in Nepal and Pakistan on 8'000m mountains (K2, Everest, Lhotse, Annapurna, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga) as well as on numerous 7'000m and 6'000m summits. I am regularly hired by international movie teams in order to shoot scenes for films, documentaries or advertisment projects. In 2022, I was responsible for filming the high-altitude scenes of the Disney+ movie "Finding Michael" starring Nimsdai, Bear Grylls and Spencer Matthews (link). Also, I was the first-ever to successfully fly drones from the summits of Everest, K2, Lhotse, and Kanchenjunga. My videos from the highest points of the earth were used in the official promotional video of DJI (link). Since then, I have also been working for Canon, Oppo, National Geographic and Netflix to shoot scenes in high-altitude environment.

Being now also based in Europe, I spend significant time guiding, skiing and ice / rock-climbing in the Alps and know very well the Mont Blanc massif in France and Italy, the Ecrins in France and Valis in Switzerland.

In paralell to guiding and photographing, I have been dedicating time as an instructor to train the new generations of climbers and promote the development of the mountain guide job in Nepal. I enjoy discovering remote ares of my country and expand the climbing and skiing activities.

My love for traveling and sharing experiences led me to work in 2015-2016 for the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in the Middle East. I was hired by the UN as a mountain guide consultant and spent several months on the Golan Heights with the Nepali army to train the forces deployed in winter activities and snow avalanche prevention / rescue.
